Powder Coating Process

The advantages of utilizing powder for surface coatings are numerous. Below highlights some of the key parameters:

1. There is a reduction in fire risk as no solvent are required as powders are solvent free

2. There is no costly wastage of solvents during application as solvents are volatile and we recognized the global requirement in prohibiting their discharge to the atmosphere

3. With liquid paint, there is a need for water spray booths while for powdercoating processes, such additional structures and costs are not necessary

4. Oversprayed powder is recoverable and excess powder do not escape into the atmosphere. In fact 95% powder utilization is maintained.

5. Powder processing times are shorter compared to wet stoving such as paints as no solvent exist in the powder

6. Parts which are damaged or poorly coated can be easily rectified through cleaning and recoating process

7. A uniform and controlled thickness can be obtained with powders compare with conventional paint during each application

8. There is a wide range of coatings easily available ranging from matt to high gloss, smooth to textured finishes and include metallic and other speciality effects.
